  Artist Statement This semester I have had the opportunity to expand my knowledge on Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe InDesign. I have been able to learn about many tools and tricks that these platforms offer. Throughout my time in FMX 210 I have taken my knowledge and created several projects. For my final project this semester I have created a portfolio that showcases all the projects I have completed in this course. To create this portfolio, I used InDesign and brought my idea to life. From choosing a color palette, to selecting fonts, I am very pleased with my final project. I am so excited to take what I have learned in this course and apply it in the future. With that being said, enjoy my FMX 210 Final Portfolio!

  Artist Statement This week I worked on creating a personal business card in Adobe InDesign. This project was exciting as I got to add my personal logo to all of my designs as well. This process started with me sketching out 12 designs as seen below. This allowed me to come up with several options for myself, and in the end it helped me create my final designs. Throughout my design process in InDesign I got to learn how to incorporate images from Adobe Illustrator and experiment with different visual elements such as fonts, stroke designs, frame shapes, and more. Creating a personal card is a great skill to have and I am excited to share my final 3 designs that I came up with! Initial Sketches

  Artist Statement This week I learn more tools on Adobe InDesign. This was my first project completing on this platform so I was eager to get started. This project was surrounded around the solar eclipse that occurred on April 8. Since the eclipse was present in Vermont, I decided to highlight Burlington, VT in my postcard. To create my content I used the frame tool to create a layout for  my design and got to experiment with some new fonts. I also was able to included my personal logo as the stamp on my postcard, which I find to be a neat touch. I am excited to share my very first InDesign project, enjoy! 

Tutorial 1: Link This tutorial was very helpful as it was a general overview of Adobe InDesign. It showed me how to set up a document and how to work with text and images within this platform. I learned the purpose of InDesign and how it can be used for books, menus, brochures, business cards, and more. I really have no knowledge of InDesign, so watching this video gave me some helpful knowledge on why I might use this platform and how it can be beneficial for certain projects. The hardest part for me is going to be getting familiar with the tools and features since I have never used it before. I am excited to see what this platform can do! Tutorial 2: Link This tutorial showed me how to create a magazine design. I learned how to set up the layout, how to change margins and columns, and how to add text.   Artist Statement This week I learned how to create a frame-by-frame animation in Adobe Photoshop. This process started with drawing out my storyboard and deciding where I wanted my story to go. After relaxing on the beach for spring break, I was inspired by the wildlife and knew I wanted to have an animation about crabs. From there I experimented with my frames and layers, rearranged some elements of my story, and made my idea come to life. During this process I was able to combine many different elements such as images, text, shapes, shadows, and even include my personal logo into my animation. Many frames, layers, and editing later I have created my first animation! Photoshop Animation Tutorials Link:  Tutorial 1 This tutorial was a quick and easy video that showcased the basics of frame by frame animation. He discussed frames, layers, and drawings. While the video was short and sweet, it demonstrated how simple this tool can be in photoshop. Being able to see your previous drawing is very beneficial in spacing out your objects to make the animation flow nicely. Frame by frame animation will definitely be useful in creating basic and short animations such as GIFs.  Link:  Tutorial 2 This tutorial gave more of a step-by-step tutorial on how to animate in photoshop. This video talked through how to duplicate and create new frames. It is very interesting to see all the frames come together in the end after putting in the work to rotate and move your drawings.   Artist Statement This week I experimented more on Adobe Photoshop while completing my Somewhere project. For this project we were asked to insert ourselves into movie scene of our scene. As seen above, I choose to add myself to a Ferris Bueller's Day Off  scene. To create this project I started with trying to match my outfit and pose the best I could to match the scene. I tried to copy the character Cameron's red outfit to make it look like the characters (including me) were paired off. After some photos were taken I then began my process on Photoshop. I used the quick selection tool, layer masks, and experimented with the lighting to make this image look as realistic as possible. Once I was done editing the details of inserting myself, I then finished off the project by adding my personal logo to the side of Ferris Bueller's jacket. This allowed for an even greater personal touch on this image and I am happy to share the final result! Original Photo Original Scene

  I found this photo on Kirby Jenner's Instagram page and I believe this image would be hard to Photoshop myself into. I would say this because with the netting, copying all the tiny details would be very challenging. I find this photo to be very neat, I but with this veil, coloring, and many red flowers, adding myself to the image would definitely take some time. I found this photo on Average Rob's Instagram page and I found his whole account to be super interesting. This picture stood out to me and inspired me for my own project because of the copy of emotions and outfits. In addition the coloring matches perfect and the editing was done seamlessly. By doing this I think it made this photo more comical and seem more realistic. This is definitely something I want to incorporate in my own somewhere project.  Artist Statement This week I had the chance to work more in Adobe Photoshop. I learned how to change an image to black and white and then add in different colors to my photo. Below you will find the final products from this project. I used a selfie of myself in Acadia National Park and I chose three different color schemes to alter this image. I first used triad, then analogous, and lastly, I used split complementary. It was very interesting working with the color wheel this week and it helped me learn more about color swatches. By creating these images, I was able to enhance my knowledge on layers and masks in Photoshop and learned more about the selection tool.   While watching the Netflix documentary, Abstract: The Art of Design | Platon: Photography, many photographs stood out to me. One specifically that stood out was this photo of Adele. This image was nostalgic to me as it reminded me of a few of her album covers and her use of facial expressions. This photo feels very vulnerable which is why it caught my attention. Eyes really do share a lot more than you would expect, and I would say that Adele’s look in her eyes carried the emotion this photograph possesses.    The color of this photo also projects emotion. Being in black and white helps convey this feeling of vulnerability and nostalgia. There are no distractions with this coloring and simply lets the portrait speak for itself. Black and white photos tend to help show emotion in a way that color photos cannot. It was very interesting to hear about Platon’s process and how he gets to photos like this one.   Artist Statement Today I took my personal logo which I created on Adobe Illustrator, and created a logo tag brush on Adobe Photoshop. This was my first time using the platform and I am happy to share how my final tag brush turned out! To create this project I used the pen tool, blend modes, and the brush tool. I worked with layers and embedding images to give this print more texture and detail. I also experimented with different colors and shades for my final print. I can't wait to continue to explore Adobe Photoshop and see all that it has to offer.

 Link: Tutorial 1 This tutorial showed me more about color adjustments in Photoshop. Through the adjustments menu there are many options available that make changing background colors very easy. The tutorial also briefly showed the difference between a raster image and a smart object layer. The lasso tool was shown as well to demonstrate how to change coloring of a specific part of a layer, which I believe will be very helpful. One part I think will be challenging will be navigating through raster images and the pixels when doing color adjustments because once changed and saved that will be the final outcome. By using this tool in photoshop it allows for your project to look more professional and adds a better flow to your images.   Artist Statement This past week I worked on creating a Self Portrait Propaganda Poster. This poster recognizes the issue of over consumption and the constant purchasing habits demonstrated by society. I was inspired to create this issue by witnessing this topic being blasted on social media as many people have become easily influenced in purchasing products. The process began with a selfie of myself, which then got transformed on Adobe Illustrator, to then creating this propaganda poster. To create this project I used the pen and pencil tool, type tool, and experimented with different color palettes. I am excited to share the final poster as these past few weeks I have seen my skills on Adobe Illustrator improve significantly.   Artist Statement This week I worked on creating a personal logo. This logo is unique to me and will allow me to continue to build and grow my personal brand. When creating a personal logo, I knew I would want to include my love for my family, the importance of growth, and the opportunity to learn. As I began working, my vision for this project was to showcase my youth and my relationship with my mom, as well as my desire to learn and expand my knowledge as the years go on. With many revisions and reevaluations, I am happy to share my final logo. To create this project, I worked on Illustrator. I used the pen tool, shaper builder tool, and type tool to make my design. In addition, I got to experiment with different colors and choose which color combinations connected the best to my vision. I am excited to use my logo moving forward and continue to grow my brand!

  Artist Statement This week I worked on creating a personal Calligramme. A Calligramme is a set of words arranged into various images. This project was created based off a letter I wrote to my future self 20 years from now. For this Calligramme I was inspired by my love for travel and creativity. I have set goals for myself both currently and in the future that involve stepping out of my comfort zone and traveling the world, as well as starting a career where I get to harness my creative abilities. Today, I want to learn more about photography and explore different hobbies. In the future, I hope I can find a job that I love that allows me to travel and be creative.   Link:  Selection & Direct Selection Tool Tutorial I believe that these tools will be easy to use and will be very helpful when creating projects. I could see myself using these tools when starting the base of a project and making shapes to design something bigger. An interesting aspect of these tools I found was how you can easily manipulate shapes and make them your own. One part I think will be tricky for me is getting in the habit of using shortcuts. Today, the internet is used for e-mail, social media, managing finances, shopping, and much more. On the other hand, the World Wide Web is an information retrieval service of the internet.  Hi, my name is Hailey DeFazio, and I am from Doylestown, Pennsylvania. I enjoy being outdoors and admiring nature as well as turning on music whenever I get the chance. I am trying my best to learn how to crochet, but it surprisingly is very tough. I also love to hang out with my friends and have picnics at sunset. One goal I set for myself this year is to spend time learning more about photography and videography as I think they are both extremely amazing talents to have.    I am currently a junior at the University of Tampa. My major is marketing with a minor in advertising and I am very excited to expand my creative skills in this course. Once I  learned more about this class, I was very intrigued about the many new tools I would be using. I am self-taught with a few of the adobe platforms, but I still have a long way to go to be advanced on these apps, so I am eager to see how my skills grow as the semester progresses.
